Theresa is passionate about helping people become empowered to live their best lives possible. By encouraging self-awareness, she assists in helping her clients make choices that align with their personal value system. She is committed to helping people to live in the present and to appreciate the grace of each day as it unfolds, knowing that challenges in life can perpetuate change and provide an opportunity to reach our true potential.

Theresa earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. After working briefly in case management, she decided to return to school. She attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, earning her master’s degree in Education with a focus in community counseling. It is within this work Theresa found her professional calling and has been counseling children, adults, families and couples for over twenty years. Theresa practices as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist with an emphasis on mindfulness-based interventions. In addition, she incorporates the Acceptance/Commitment therapy. ACT encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fight or flee; guilty about them. She is also trained in Applied Behavioral Analysis and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Theresa moved to Colorado in 2019. She has been working for the State of Colorado and is excited to be joining the team at Healing Horizons. She is available to offer her services to children, adults, couples and families, specializing in the areas of anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, childhood mental health and family relationship dynamics.

In her free time, Theresa enjoys traveling and being outdoors.
