During the first acupuncture visit, the patient and practitioner will discuss the primary reason for the appointment and information will be gathered regarding the patient’s health history. A treatment plan will be constructed that is specialized for the patient’s Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis, and it will involve one or more of the following elements of treatment:

• Acupuncture involves the insertion of sterile and single use, solid, hair-thin needles through the skin. Patients usually find their treatments relaxing and enjoyable.

• Medicinal Chinese Herbs may be prescribed for particular conditions.

• Tuina (Chinese massage) will often be incorporated into the treatment plan for musculoskeletal pain and relaxation.

 

This relates to acupuncture visits. Other visits in the office will vary depending on the service being provided.
