| Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine |
The term Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) refers primarily to Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine,
however it includes other healing practices such as tuina (Oriental bodywork) and nutrition. People who seek care from AOM look forward to
being treated as a whole individual, with specialized treatments that align naturally with the human body and the environment. The theoretical
basis of Chinese medicine, centered upon the concept of qi (sometimes referred to as life-force) moving along pathways called meridians in the
body, was developed in China over a period of about 3000 years. Today AOM remains a thriving and successful form of medicine, combining traditional
theories with modern medical research. As a primary and firmly established healthcare method in Eastern countries, Chinese medicine is becoming more
readily available in the United States.
During the first visit, the patient and practitioner will discuss the primary reason for the appointment, and
information will be gathered regarding the patient’s health history. A treatment plan will be constructed that is specialized for the patient’s
AOM diagnosis, and it will involve one or more of the following elements of treatment: |
Therapeutic (sports/orthopedic) Massage |
This session is focused on relieving acute or chronic pain in a particular area and/or increasing range of motion. Postural assessments, ROM evaluation, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, passive and/or active stretching, Tuina and deep tissue are all techniques that may be applied. A series of sessions will probably be needed in order to achieve maximum benefit and relief. |
Relaxation Massage |
This session involves a full body massage, with some extra time focused on areas that need more attention. Jennifer uses Swedish and deep tissue techniques in order to provide a massage that suits the patient’s individual needs. Massages are available for lengths of thirty and sixty minutes. |
Hot Stone Massage |
This highly sought after massage is very similar to a relaxation massage, however hot stones are used throughout as massage tools and are also placed on pressure points to relax and warm the muscles. This massage is eighty minutes in length. |
Therapeutic Touch, Touch for Health, Applied Kinesiology, Homeopathy, and Polarity Therapy |
• Percussor massage (a vibration) releases multi-fascia tissues, and therefore joints and organs, to allow them a greater functional state.
• Essential Oils (yes, vibrational frequencies) - pure therapeutic grade oils from Young Living are employed for physical and emotional support.
• Raindrop Therapy is an application process of layering several oils along the spine and soles of the feet for a deeply penetrating healing.
• EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a finger tapping technique recognized for healing emotions that restrict us from living life fully.
• Guided Imagery and Visualization for Emotional Healing |
Guided Imagery |
Imagery is a naturally occurring mode of communication that is experienced as your intuition, daydreams, night dreams, the healer within, and perhaps most commonly, as worry. Yet, though common, it is rarely called upon on purpose. Interactive Imagery uses this natural process to invite your intuitive wisdom to be present for advice, exploration and understanding about questions or issues effecting your life.
Interactive Imagery used in conjunction with acupuncture is a perfect melding of the mind/body/spirit elements of health and healing. Used together the two processes are synergistic and enhance the experience and effect of each, thereby leading to improved mental and physical well being and overall health. |
| Acutonics
©
Acutonics is similar to acupuncture, but uses specialized tuning forks instead of needles. Gentle sound waves travel through the meridians to help aid in healing and well-being. In addition to having 75 different forks, Acutonics also uses Tibetan singing bowls. These bowls aid in relaxation and can be tremendous for back pain and digestive concerns when used directly on the body. Acutonics can be helpful for anyone and is especially good for children and people who are afraid of needles. A large range of physical, emotional, and spiritual concerns can be addressed with this healing modality.
Nutritional Counseling
Nutritional counseling is available to help support your healing process. The food we consume has a direct impact on the quality of our lives. A nutritional consultant is available to assess your daily food intake and help gently guide you to better eating habits. She is also available to go to your home and help you with your kitchen and can meet you at a grocery store and teach you how to make good choices. In addition, meal plans and recipes can be created to suit your individual needs.
Bach Flower Essences & Homeopathy
Bach Flower Essences and homeopathic remedies are available from our Natural Health consultant. These therapies are designed to help support your healing process and can be used in addition to acupuncture and acutonics. Bach Flower Essences were created by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1920's. They offer a safe, gentle way to balance your emotional healing. Homeopathic remedies are utilized as needed for specific situations and tend to be more directed to physical healing. Both modalities are options available for your health concerns. |
