For over 26 years Joseph has practiced a variety of healing arts. He has practiced in Hawaii, New Zealand and the mainland United States. He settled in Colorado in 2008 and feels it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

A native of Baltimore, MD, Joseph grew up with a mother who was an avid and pioneering lay nutritionist. She was a very strong influence on his decision to pursue a career in healing. After studying the Chinese martial arts for many years, Joseph was drawn to study the healing arts.

After receiving a diploma in massage therapy in 1984 he went on to obtain his diploma in acupuncture from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine in 1988. In addition to immersing himself in the theory and practice of acupuncture, his course of study included several hundred hours of Chinese herbal medicine under Randall Barolet, one of the pioneers of Chinese herbal medicine in the west. He continued his education in Traditional Chinese Medicine in a post-graduate program in acupuncture at the Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jinan, China.

After moving to New Zealand in 1992, and establishing a thriving acupuncture family practice there, Joseph saw the potential of homeopathy. Homeopathy is effective for people of all ages, and is a particularly safe, gentle and well-tolerated modality for the treatment of children. He went on to complete a three-year program in Classical Homeopathy at the Bay of Plenty College of Homeopathy in New Zealand and in 1995 he was awarded a Diploma in Homeopathy. He is also a Fellow of the British Institute of Homeopathy.

Joseph has since gone on to achieve diplomas in Craniosacral Therapy (2002) and Nutritional Therapy (2007), and most recently he obtained his Associate of Occupational Studies degree through the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, specializing in sports and orthopedic massage.

A classically trained guitarist and pianist, in 2004 Joseph was looking for a way to incorporate music into his healing. He went on to become a Certified Music Practitioner through the Music for Healing and Transition Program, an international organization which trains musicians to play bedside music for the critically ill and dying. Joseph spent countless hours volunteering his musical services for hospice patients. It was one of the deepest and most profound experiences of his life.

As a musician and martial artist himself, Joseph has specialized in helping others enhance their performance and eliminate pain. Using acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, massage, and homeopathy, he treats everyone from athletes and dancers to musicians and actors.

In addition, he has experience treating a wide range of other conditions and welcomes people of all ages, including children, into his practice.

He is a Licensed Acupuncturist in Colorado and Joseph is also nationally board certified in acupuncture through the NCCAOM. He is also a registered massage therapist in Colorado.

He feels strongly about an integrated approach to health and is excited about collaborating with the other practitioners at Healing Horizons in order to provide the best care possible.

His personal interests include practicing and teaching tai chi, chess, and playing music.
