Dr. Joseph Heinecke grew up on the Western Slope. He knew from a very young age he was meant to be a doctor. He attended Grand Junction High School, where an internship with a doctor shifted his career focus from medicine to chiropractic and helped him understand health in a whole new way. Upon graduation from high school, Dr. Heinecke maintained a full-time job working to serve the developmentally-disabled population, while also being a full-time student studying chemistry and biology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Colorado Mesa University in 2009.

Dr. Heinecke then moved to Atlanta, Georgia to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He graduated with Honors in 2013 shortly after publishing a paper contributing to chiropractic research, Improvement in the Quality of Life in a Patient with Aicardi Syndrome: A Retrospective Case Study. This study followed a little girl with severe developmental disabilities who experienced tremendous improvement in the quality of her life and that of her caregiver as a result of chiropractic care.

Upon graduation from chiropractic school and becoming board-certified, Dr. Heinecke returned to practice in his hometown of Grand Junction. He practiced as an associate doctor for three years including a short time in the Dominican Republic before founding Mountain Valley Chiropractic, which he currently operates.

Dr. Heinecke truly has a passion for serving patients. He believes in an integrated approach to health care as the best way to provide superior results. He recognizes the fact that we are complex beings and require care in multiple areas from a variety of disciplines. This is why he chose to join Healing Horizons in addition to maintaining his own full-time practice. Dr. Heinecke practices a variety of gentle, non-invasive techniques that he incorporates into each visit. This allows him to get the best results possible. He is experienced in working with all age populations with a variety of health challenges.
